Procedure
Procedure
- 01
Confirm eligibility to invite: Check whether the inviter's current status allows an F-3 invitation and whether the family member is a legal spouse or an unmarried minor child. Parents and adult children are not eligible for F-3, so other statuses of stay are reviewed for them.
- 02
Check income and ability to support: Decide the number of family members to invite and check the income standard by household size at the time of application. Prove steady income with withholding receipts and pay slips, and do not use lump-sum deposits made just before the application as income evidence.
- 03
Check employment, business and housing: Confirm employment status and residence with a certificate of employment, employment contract and lease agreement. A D-8 (Corporate Investment) inviter prepares sales, payroll and balance records showing that the company actually operates and can support the family.
- 04
Prepare family relationship documents: Marriage and birth certificates receive an apostille or consular confirmation in the issuing country and are accompanied by a Korean translation. Originals without authentication may not be accepted, so arrange authentication from the stage of obtaining the documents abroad.
- 05
Apply for a certificate of visa issuance: Submit an application and evidence for each invitee to the immigration office with jurisdiction over the inviter's address. Once the confirmation number is issued, align the entry schedule so that the family can apply for the visa at a diplomatic mission within its validity period.
- 06
Alien registration and extension management: The family completes alien registration at the immigration office with jurisdiction over the place of stay within 90 days of entry. The family's period of stay is set based on the inviter's period of stay, so prepare the family's extension together when the inviter extends.

Changing to F-3 in Korea after entering for a short-term stay is restricted in principle, so if the family enters first on the assumption of a change in Korea, they may need to leave and apply for the visa again abroad.
