How to Apply for Family-Friendly Certification — Operating Performance Materials, 3-Year Validity and a 2-Year Extension
Companies and public institutions that run programs such as childbirth and childcare support, flexible work and a family-friendly workplace culture in an exemplary way can apply to the Minister of Gender Equality and Family for family-friendly certification. You meet the criteria based on the published review items and scores and submit an overview of the operating system, operating performance and self-assessment results; the certification is valid for 3 years and can be extended once by up to 2 years.
Procedure
1. Compare with the review items
Check the company's programs against the review items and scores (such as whether family-friendly programs are implemented) published by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family. The certification criteria include compliance with laws on employment, labor and the family-friendly workplace environment.
2. Organize operating performance materials
Collect the rules and actual usage records of programs such as maternity leave, parental leave, flexible work and family care support. Rules without actual usage are hard to reflect in the score.
3. Prepare and submit the application
Apply with the family-friendly certification application, an overview of the family-friendly management system, operating performance and self-assessment results, and related materials. The applicant may be required to bear the review and evaluation costs.
4. Review and issuance of the certificate
If the review finds the criteria met, a family-friendly certificate is issued; if not, the reasons are notified. Certified companies may use the certification mark, and uncertified companies may not use the same or a similar mark.
5. Validity management and reapplication
The validity is 3 years from certification and can be extended once by up to 2 years. If you reapply before the validity ends, some documents already submitted may be omitted.
